Excalibur Bolts On Success To Rail Live
Excalibur, the specialists in screw bolts for the rail industry, will present some of its market leading screw bolt products at the Rail Live Exhibition (19-20 June Quinton Rail Technology Centre, Warwickshire, stand B9), including one of the first chances to see its ground-breaking Excalibur Sleeper Bolt in the UK, plus its patented PLUS BOLT with its anti-corrosion finish that is ideal for many rail project applications.
The Excalibur Screwbolt range of threaded anchors has myriad applications in both civils and track rail work, as they can be fixed directly into almost any substrate - including concrete, brick, timber and plastic - without the use of plugs or resin. Excalibur Screwbolts have been used on both Network Rail and London Underground infrastructure for fixing items including insulator pots, signalling systems and rail baseplates, and have numerous product acceptance/approvals for use on rail projects across the globe. With just one anchor for all substrates, Excalibur Screwbolts are quick and easy to install, vibration resistant, will not stress or damage the substrate, and are easily removable making them the perfect solution for permanent or temporary works.
Excalibur's Sleeper Bolt is designed and engineered to provide the fastest, most reliable and effective fixing solution for both plastic and hardwood sleepers in any railway application. It saves time and cost in installation, while improving whole life costs in sleeper fixing. Because they require greatly reduced installation torque, Excalibur Sleeper Bolts are fast and simple to fit - around four to five seconds per fixing or 20 seconds per base plate – and create much less damage to the substrate compared to traditional tapered screw spikes. A vibration-resistant twin helix thread design reduces the stress imposed on sleepers during installation, leading to extended sleeper/bearer life and reduced maintenance and repair costs.
The Excalibur PLUS BOLT, which has been used extensively on Cross Rail, features a special patented finish which offers improved corrosion resistance over traditional finishes and is a cost-effective alternative to stainless steel. The finish has satisfied Crossrail's requirement for a 120-year life span and are already being used on some of the project's most demanding fixing requirements. The bolts have passed 6,200 hours of salt spray tests at an accredited test house and were evaluated for nine weeks in an accelerated cyclic corrosion test by the Ford Motor Company with no signs of corrosion. This enhanced corrosion resistance makes Excalibur Plus BOLTs perfect for a wide variety of rail industry fixing and repair applications including fixing into sprayed concrete tunnel linings.
Excalibur is the manufacturer of the original Screwbolt, the innovative high-strength twin helix threaded anchor that has revolutionised bolt fixing in the global construction. Excalibur continues to manufacture in the UK using British design and engineering expertise. The Excalibur Screwbolt range now includes a full complement of products for almost any building or construction project, from bridge and tunnel engineering to lighter second fix applications such as cable trays and signs. The Excalibur Screw Bolt is regularly specified for a wide variety of on-track rail applications including fixing track base plates, and signalling and power systems.
